Under the brand name „Curio – A Collection by Hilton“, the Event Hotel Group’s the Reichshof Hotel Hamburg reopens again today. This unique grand hotel combines hanseatic flair with contemporary design and an ideal location in Hamburg’s city center.

Copper-coloured french balconies on the hotel’s facade, and the hotel’s historical rooftop eagle shine like new, the floor to ceiling windows on the ground floor are invitingly open for the first pedestrians that will be drawn inside by their own curiosity: Already at a first glance, the changes that this historical hotel has witnessed are are clearly visible. After a year of renovation work to the value of 30 million Euros, the Event Hotel Group is reopening the hotel today under the brand name „Curio – A Collection by Hilton“.
Once one of the leading grand hotels in Hamburg, the Reichshof Hamburg combines the special charm of the early 20th century with the benefits of the modern hotel industry. Historically protected stylistic elements, which have decorated the house since it’s opening in 1910, have been lovingly restored and complemented with contemporary design and high-quality technology. Now dazzling marble columns, exquisite wooden paneling and art-deco lighting are presented next to LED-lighting technology and flat-screens. The 278 rooms, Junior Suites and One Bedroom Suites were completely renovated and offer leisure and business travelers a relaxing retreat in the heart of Hamburg’s CBD. „It is a wonderful task to be able to work on one of the most exciting hotel projects in Germany and to bring this monument to Hamburg’s history into the future. The combination of historical furnishing with modern elements and a unique gastronomy concept creates a special atmosphere, which will impress travelers as well as locals“, says General Manager Folke Sievers.
Folke Sievers has the challenge to restore this hotel to the lively center of activity in Hamburg’s city center that it once was in the Roaring Twenties. Therefore he has assigned one of the most innovative culinary experts in Hamburg: Frank Bertram has moved out of the Chilehaus and into the Hotel Reichshof Hamburg with his Restaurant Slowman. The philosophy of this young kitchen-chef is based on his passion for honest cooking, first-class products – and music. He originally rose to fame with the TV-show „Rachs Restaurantschule“, which has won the Restaurant a huge fan-base over the past few years, the creative dishes are just as popular as Frank Bertram’s Saturday Night Jam Sessions at the Restaurant. „We had become too big for our former premises, but were hesitant to leave – until the Reichshof came along with this special opportunity. Here, through our very own concept, and the hotel’s unique architecture, we offer an incredible variety: a la carte menus in the historical dining room, hand-rolled sushi and sweet treats in the lively Hotelhalle and the best club sandwich in Hamburg at our legendary bar,“ says Frank Bertram.
With the Bar Chef Mario Zils, who previously had been employed in the renowned Schumann‘s in München, the Reichshof’s Bar 1910 also counts on the mixture of traditional artisanry and the sense for new trends. The menu of the Bar 1910 combines high-quality spirits, especially a huge range of whiskeys from all over the world, innovative cocktails and reinterpreted classics. At the Spa & Sports 250 square meters of the Reichshof Hamburg are dedicated to relaxation and fitness. A modern fitness gym for strength, cardio and aerobic workouts as well as two saunas and a relaxation room are available to hotel guests. The spa also offers those who are not staying at the hotel, high-quality cosmetic treatments and soothing massages.
